Ofall the friends I've ever met,
You're the one I won'tforget

Andif I die
Before you do
I'll go to heaven
And wait foryou

I'llgive the angels
Back their wings
And risk the loss of everything
Just to prove

Myfriendship is true
I'm thankful to have
Family and Friends likeyou!

WorthyGrand Patron Phil's History of OES

Quoting BrotherPhil:Many of you know that I am ahistory buff, especially Masonic History. Many of us would like to speak 2languages.Do you know that you all do?The first is the one we allhave spoken most of our life. The second is a beautiful and simple form ofcommunication, which is simply the language of symbolism.

In my previous remarks, I have covered the triangle and its many forms in theChapter room.I have covered the #5 made up of #3 and #2.I havealso covered the Star Point Emblem, their colors and what each isportraying.I have also covered why the Star appears upside down. And now I will cover another form.

In the Initiation Ceremony, the Conductress made another perfect form ... thecircle. This has been the symbol of eternity and perfection for thousandsof years. As each Star Point is circled, the eternal perfection of eachvirtue portrayed by that heroine is symbolized. In the final circle of allthe Star Points at the end of the lectures, the Conductress is symbolizing thatthe ideal life must include all of these virtues. All movement inside thecircle of the Star Points is done on the circle. All floor work outsidethe Star Points is done on the square.Which is another less for anotherday ...

Sadness....

(Saturday, Jan.5)…My mother,AlmaBartosch, passed away Thursday evening.God is so amazing with Hisplans of great detail. When we came over for the 13th radiation, we cameprepared to spend the night at my Mom's house asBeverly's son Jacob had to catch a plane which left forJacksonville,Floridaat 8:20 am.We hadn't been backat my mother's house but just a couple of hours, when the hospital called askingus to return to my mother's bedside as quickly as possible.I called Marcwho sent his wife Karen and daughter Lindsay.I cousin Barbara came andjoined Beverly, Jacob and myself. We asked for a Chaplain to come andvisit. He asked what we needed from him.I said we wanted him topray for my mother's safe passage to be with God.The Chaplain DanielHinds stood with his left hand on my mother's forehead, the rest of us aroundthe bed holding hands withBeverlyholding Grandma's hand.ChaplainDaniel prayed the most beautiful prayer of commitment over my grandmother and onthe word "Amen" -Beverlyexclaimed "He took her!".I havenever experienced anything so moving or beautiful in my life. And suchpeace filled my spirit.

Therewill be no services at her request, but any desired memorials may be sent to theChildren'sHospitalofSeattle.

Thankyou everyone for yourprayers, cards, and emails. They have trulymade the pathway I have walked this past two months a blessing each and everyday.I was able to give my mother glad news about my cancer progress andmy prayer is that she heard me.The tumors in my face and neck haveresponded far beyond all expectations and the radiologist is thrilled with theprogress I have made. They cannot even feel the edges of the tumorsanymore.I had a CT Scan done on Tuesday of the tumors in my lungs inorder to prepare for a plan of chemotherapy for their treatment.Theoncologist can't understand it, but those tumors have shrunk in size aswell.I told him I knew it was because of the prayers being lifted up onmy behalf.

Thankyou for sharing this message with any one you feel would want toknow.

FIVE BEST WINTERFOODS

Moreand more research shows that what we eat has a major impact on ourhealth.

GARLICis a potent healer.Allicin, a chemical found in this aromatic bulb, appears to deactivateviruses.

GINGERhas a lot of heat, whichmakes it quite soothing in the winter time.

BARLEYis a great source ofplant protein, B vitamins and fiber--both soluble (which reducescholesterol.)

SWEETPOTATOESare not high in caloriesand they contain no fat--despite their sugary taste! They are loaded withimmune boosting compounds.

KALEis an overallstrengthening food which is rich in calcium, iron and beta-carotene and is alsohigh infiber.

Abbey'sin heaven …

I can’t remember who sent this to me, but I do hope you enjoy itas much as I did… and now I quote:Thisis one of the kindest things I've ever experienced.I have no way to knowwho sent it, but there is a beautiful soulworkingin the dead letter office of theUSpostal service.

Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month.Theday after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking abouthow
muchshe missed Abbey.Sheasked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbeygotto heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so shedictated these words:

DearGod,
Will youplease take care of my dog?She died yesterday and is with you inheaven.

Imiss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even thoughshe got sick.I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with ballsand to swim.I am sending a picture of her so when you see her, you willknow that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.

We put the letter in an envelope with apicture of Abbey and Meredith
andaddressed it to God/Heaven.We put our return address on it.ThenMeredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said itwould take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven.Thatafternoon she dropped it into the letter box atthepostoffice.A few days later, she asked if God hadgotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped ingold paper on our frontporch addressed, "To Meredith , " in an unfamiliarhand.Meredith opened it.Inside was a book by Mr. Rogerscalled, "When a Pet Dies."Taped to the inside front cover was the letterwe had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was thepicture of Abbey&Meredith and this note:

DearMeredith,
Abbey arrived safely inheaven.Having thepicture was a big help.I recognized Abbey right away.Abbeyisn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in yourheart.Abbey loved being your dog.

Sincewe don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep yourpicture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keepand have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautifulletter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it tome. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially foryou.
I send my blessings every day and rememberthat I love you very much.By the way, I'm easy to find, I am whereverthere is love.
Love,
God

Hotchocolate has changed a lot over the years.

Back in the days of theAztecs, cocoa beans were valuable not only for their culinary importance butalso as currency. Cocoa beans were often given as gifts during importantceremonies and festivals. Even so, they also used the roasted beans to make achocolate drink. Their version is much different from the hot chocolate we knowtoday. The Aztecs actually drank it cold, flavoured with wine and chili peppers, and not at all sweet.

Chocolate was discovered andbrought toEuropein the early 1500s by theexplorer Cortez. After its introduction inSpain, the drinkbegan to be served hot, sweetened and without the chili peppers. The Spanishwere very protective of their wonderful new beverage, and it was over a hundredyears before news of it began to spread acrossEurope.

When it hitLondon(in the 1700s),chocolate houses became popular and very trendy. It was the English who startedadding milk to their chocolate and it was enjoyed as an after-dinner beverage.

It wasn't until the middle ofthe eighteenth century that chocolate began to evolve past its drinkable form.First, cocoa powder was invented inHolland. Cocoa powder blends much easier withmilk or water, allowing for more creations to come. Then came chocolate as acandy by mixing cocoa butter with sugar. In 1876, milk chocolate was developed.>From then on, chocolate has become more popular as a solid treat rather than asthe drink it started from.

It'sa fact ...

The white-breasted nuthatch is nimble. In fact, nuthatches are the onlybirds that regularly move headfirst down the truck of a tree. Why?They climb down headfirst to discover the food woodpeckers missed on their wayup!Cool birds, huh!
