NEVER FOUND THE TIME

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.....

All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die

I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.

God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time."

MESSAGES FROM MY MAILBOX (&our Cell Phone)...

First the cell phone ..

Saturday evening while we were at my brother's, my cell phone rang out of the clear blue! It was RWB Doug Tucker with the news that MW Chuck McQuery had been taken to the hospital with a heart attack! I am happy to report that he is home this evening (Monday) so has apparently responded well to the procedures which were performed. I am certain that he appreciates our prayers ... and cards!Address:19204 Bing Road, Lynnwood, 98036.

Then Sunday morning when we were traveling home from Clarkston, our cellphone rang again and it was Mary Callen. She reported that they were home! Last we knew they were on a trip southwest ... but guess they got as far as Boise one night, checked into a hostel, but apparently when PGP Chuck woke up the next morning, he had pneumonia AGAIN. He was hospitalized until Saturday, when they grabbed a plane back to Spokane! I am sure that he would appreciate your prayers, too ... pluscards:5175 Swenson RD, Deer Park 99006.

Now I am turning my phone off ....

And now the messages in my INBOX!

Prayers needed ... MW Chuck McQuery ...

Brethren,

(1/27)RWB Doug Tucker just notified me that MW Chuck McQuery is at the Overlake Hospital recovering from a heart Attack he suffered from last night. The doctors had performed some additional steps for his speedy recovery that will make MW Chuck stay extra few days in the recovery room. He is expected to be released sometime Tuesday.

Let us all include him in our prayers that he may ease on his way to recuperation. May Diane and the rest of Chuck’s loved ones have peace in their mind as they await MW Chuck’s full recovery.

Fraternally,

Sadness in Tennessee ...

It has just been made to my ear- that our Grand Secretary Sister Jean Vincent has a twin sister and she has passed away either today or yesterday. I don't know any details but wanted to pass this along as many of you know Sister Jean and have for many years as she has been the one you see if you are of the GRAND category and need your credentials for our Grand Chapter. She is also a PGM of Tennessee. It must be hard for a TWIN to loose part of yourself when one passes- (I'm not making sense am I ?) Anyway please keep her in your prayers I feel she will need them more than ever. Her husband, who is a Past Grand Master of the State of TN. has not been in good health these last few years and Jean almost lost him. He has made remarkable progress and it is due to her care.

Her address is
Jean Vincent, PGM
Grand Secretary
1007 Hyndsver Rd.
Martin, TN38237
Thank you for caring

Prayers needed...

Hi Connie,

Could you please put this in the “Stars of Washington”? Thanks.

My sister, Irene Laughlin, fell on Monday and broke her left hip. They are trying to get her blood thick enough to operate (she was on blood thinner) as well as keeping an eye on her congestive heart failure and other health issues. Irene is Worthy Matron of Afton Chapter in Marysville. Please keep her in your prayers. Cards can be sent to her home at4713 – 124thPl. NE,Marysville,WA98271

**Marian Smith, PM

PS(1/25)Hieveryone,

Irene finally had surgery late last night and is doing well. Hooray!! The doctor said she got a “good fix” on it. Irene called Mom this morning and even sang her “Happy Birthday” (today is her 87th birthday) so she must be feeling good. Now if we can just get her home!! I will be taking Mom and Dad up to see Irene this morning and if anything changes I will let you all know. Thanks to everyone for their prayers, well wishes and their concern. The whole family truly appreciates it.

Blue Slipper Pin...

Dear Connie,

While in Nova Scotia at an RV park we met the master of the local lodge. He presented Buck with the pin of his lodge and then turned to me and with great sincerity and presentation presented me with a "Blue Slipper" pin. It is beautiful and to say the least I was truly impressed. The verse on card says:

"The "Blue Slipper" pin is a symbol whereby a Mason may recognize a lady who has a Masonic Connection. This will allow masons to extend all courtesies to her and ensure no harm comes to her."

I will be happy to show it off when I get home. Ladies you will all want one. I wear mine with pride.

**Joy Lough, PGM

And speaking of the Blue Slipper pin ... on an OES chat email group, it was brought to our attention that maybe some Grand Lodge Jurisdictions would frown on ladies wearing a pin with a Square & Compass on it. So ... here is what MWB Wayne Smith, Grand Master of Masons in Washington related when asked the question:

“Yes, Ladies may wear the Blue Slipper pin or any other pin with the Square and Compasses as in the GL of Washington there are no restrictions on who may wear the Square and Compasses.” Thanks Brother Wayne!

Great news...

In the February/March issue of Country Woman magazine on page 43 is a great article about Tuckerton Chapter #54, New Jersey. They made 75 heart shaped pillows to be donated to people after surgery at Deborah Heart and Lung center- these pillows went under their seat belts on the way home to protect their stitches. Way to go Tuckerton!! WE all know how great we are but its such a treat to see it in a national magazine!
** Marie Oneil PM, Gateway # 3, Vallejo, CAGGC

I subscribe to that magazine so am going to check out the article. But what great publicity... showing us doing good unto all!

Any visit, card, phone call406-251-5100, AND NOW EMAIL:) is greatly appreciated. To send an email just put in the subject line: Attn Shirley Gabrielson and send to jparge@thegoodmangroup.comand they will make certain she receives it. CANDLEMAS

GROUNDHOG DAY

If Candlemas Day bring snow and rain

Winter is gone, and won’t come again.

If Candlemas Day be clear and bright

Winter will have another flight!

It is no accident that GROUNDHOG DAY and CANDLEMAS are celebrated together, for both signify the triumph of light over darkness, spring over winter. Candlemas, a Christian feast day that got its name from the candlelit processions that accompanied it, was an overlay on older celebrations marking the astronomical midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

Groundhog Day, a Germanic holiday that uses a furry prognosticator to fore tell the coming of spring, depends on the presence (or not) of sunshine for its forecast.

Thus the day is known for weather rhymes, such as ‘Half your wood and half your hay, Should be gone and be left on Candlemas Day,’ a reference to the halfway point of wintry weather.

GRAND SECRETARY NOTES

To the Chapters:

The merger of Golden Link Chapter No. 121 and Malden Chapter No. 149 was accomplished on November 27, 2007 in a beautiful merger ceremony facilitated by Worthy Grand Matron Marjoe Richards and with Worthy Grand Patron Phil Green conducting everyone in repeating the obligation.

The Golden Chain was once again employed surrounding the newly linked members of Malden Chapter in a ring of friendship, love and support.

The Merger Ceremony was attended by about 60 people, including many of the Grand Officers and their escorts and members of several chapters in the surrounding area that made it a point to come and lend their support.

We congratulate all the members of Malden Chapter No. 149.

13. Clear your clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.
14. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive and in the present moment.
15. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class.......but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
16. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a college kid with a very limited budget.
17. Smile and laugh more. It will keep the energy vampires away.
18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
20. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
21. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
22.Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
23. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
24.Light those 'special' scented candles, use the 600 thread count sheets, and wear cashmere now.
Stop waiting for a special occasion. Everyday is special.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Forgive everyone for everything.
28. What other people think of you is none of your business.
29. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time!
30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch with them.
32. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
33.Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. God provides, remember?!
34. The best is yet to come.
35. No matter how you feel-- getup, dress up, and show up.
36. Do the right thing!
37. ***Call your family often. ***
38. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statement: 'I am thankful for __________.'
39. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
40. Enjoy the ride. Remember that this is not Disney World and you certainly don't want a fast pass. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy the ride!
LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH... LIFE'S A GIFT ... UNWRAP IT!

Brethrenall,

Floodinghas just devastated our state, and many thousands of our Brothers, Sisters, neighbors and citizens are in harms way. Many have lost everythingincluding their homes and are currently in shelters or staying with unaffectedfriends and relatives. At this point I am most concerned with the welfareof the people involved. Our Lodge buildings can be repaired, cleaned, restored, etc. in due time; however, the humanitarian needs of people cannotwait.

I implore all of you tocontact every Brother, Sister, Widow, and neighbor to see how they are doing, and what, if anything we as men and Masons need to do to alleviate suffering, ensure their welfare and assist them in this time of need.

I remind you of the Chargethat is given to the Worshipful Master, and which applies to each of us, at hisinstallation -“Charge them to practice out of the Lodge those dutieswhich they have been taught in it; and, by amiable, virtuous and discreetconduct, to convince mankind of thegoodness of the Institution; so that, when aperson is said to be a member of it, the world may know that he is one to whomthe burdened heart may pour out its sorrow; to whom distress may prefer itssuit; whose hand is guided by justice, and whose heart is expanded bybenevolence.”

May we all take an active andtimely part in assisting any and all that are affected by the recent floods anddo our duty as men and Masons. This is the time to show all citizens, ourcommunities, and state that Masons care.

Fraternally,

WayneSmith, Grand Master
