Verses for your Valentine Cards ...
You are my queen of hearts that I will forever hold in my heart ... even
after the game is over.
If I had 11 roses and you, I would have a dozen.
If you were a burger at McDonalds, I'd call you McBeautyful.
If I followed you home, would you keep me?
You must have been born in a forest because you are a fox!
Honey, you are so sweet, you are giving me a toothache!
No wonder the sky is gray today, all the blue is in your eyes.
If I had a rose for every time I thought of you, I'd walk through a
garden forever.
I may not be Dairy Queen, but I'll treat you right!
Do you believe in Love at first sight or do I have to walk by again

Prayers needed ...
Hi Connie,
Here's an update on Dad for 'Stars'
Dad (Ken Davis) has had a series of problems but we hope things are on
the mend. Most everyone knows he had an aortic valve replacement in May
2006. The heart surgery caused a very serious lung condition to kick in, and
he has never really recovered from that. On December 15, he had a stroke
which affected his cerebellum and caused him to loose his sense of balance.
He was in the hospital for one week and in a rehab center for 2 more weeks
before he came home. Since coming home he has had problems with his heart
rate. It was dropping below 40 and causing him to almost pass out, which is
very concerning since his balance isn't all that great anyway. He saw his
Cardiologist on Jan 31st and he is scheduled for surgery to have a pace
maker installed on February 7th. Providing there are no complications he
will only be in the hospital for one night.
Please keep Mom and Dad in your thoughts and prayers.

More Prayers ...
Pat Foster, Worthy Matron of Pilgrim Chapter #157, had a heart attack
last night (Tuesday) at ten thirty. She was rushed to the Olympic Memorial
Hospital in Port Angeles, and is being moved this morning to the Providence
Hospital in Seattle. Pat had suffered a couple of heart attacks in 1997 and
1998 and has had three heart surgeries. I have no further information at
this time other than her room number at the hospital. Room 428 on 4E and
her heart specialist is Dr. Albro. Please keep Pat in your Prayers.

Lost ...
Would you please put a blurb in "Stars..." to the effect that I am
missing a pair of brown open-toed slingback shoes. I wore them for Gen's
Cooley's honor night, and changed shoes to work in the kitchen, placing them
in a plastic bag on the bench. I'm hoping that someone picked them up by
accident. E-mail is
ivan@localaccess.com or (360) 330 - 2114. Thank you very much!!

Rada Uphus Chapter News ...
Good Morning All, I think!!
Well here is the info on Rada Uphus #208. As we all know the January
meetings were either cut short by snow or canceled altogether. So' on
Tuesday February 6th the Chapter meet with the Officers in attendance and
sideliners present. This evening was somewhat extended as the Worthy Matron
presented all her Committee members with gifts for their service and
expressed her appreciation for all they have done to make the year to date
successful. The evening was made even more memorable as those seeking
office for next year submitted their letters of intent. The best part of
this process is that there are at least 4 members of the Chapter seeking
elected office that have never served as Worthy Matron or Patron. What a
great way to start a new term, new officers and new ideas.
Some of the other events of the evening were fantastic, the refreshments
provided by those responsible for the evening repose were extremely well
received. The pies and other delicacies were greatly appreciated and
sustained those in need of the additional sugar that keeps us all alert.
To all who could not attend may your presence at our next communication
be attainable and you too can join in the fellowship, friendship, and good
feelings one gets when being with people of kindred minds.

THE HISTORY OF VALENTINE'S DAY
The story of Valentine's Day begins in the third century with an
oppressive Roman emperor and a humble Christian martyr. The emperor was
Claudius II Gothicus. The Christian was Valentinus.
Claudius had ordered all Romans to worship state religion's idols, and
he had made it a crime punishable by death to associate with Christians. But
Valentinus was dedicated to the ideals of Christ, and not even the threat of
death could keep him from practicing his beliefs.
During the last weeks of Valentinus's life a remarkable thing happened.
One day a jailer for the Emperor of Rome knocked at Valentinus's door
clutching his blind daughter in his arms. He had learned of Valentinus's
medical and spiritual healing abilities, and appealed to Valentinus to treat
his daughter's blindness. She had been blind since birth. Valentinus knew
that her condition would be difficult to treat but he gave the man his word
he would do his best. The little girl was examined, given an ointment for
her eyes and a series of re-visits were scheduled.
Seeing that he was a man of learning, the jailer asked whether his
daughter, Julia, might also be brought to Valentinus for lessons. Julia was
a pretty young girl with a quick mind. Valentinus read stories of Rome's
history to her. He described the world of nature to her. He taught her
arithmetic and told her about God. She saw the world through his eyes,
trusted in his wisdom, and found comfort in his quiet strength.
"Valentinus, does God really hear our prayers?" Julia said one day.
"Yes, my child, He hears each one, "he replied. "Do you know what I pray for
every morning and every night? I pray that I might see. I want so much to
see everything you've told me about!"
"God does what is best for us if we will believe in Him," Valentinus
said.
"Oh, Valentinus, I do believe," Julia said intensely. "I do." She knelt
and grasped his hand. They sat quietly together, each praying. Several weeks
passed and the girl's sight was not restored. Yet the man and his daughter
never wavered in their faith and returned each week.
Then one day, Valentinus received a visit from Roman soldiers who
arrested him, destroyed his medicines and advised him against his religious
beliefs. When the little girl's father learned of his arrest and
imprisonment, he wanted to intervene but there was nothing he could do.
On the eve of his death, Valentinus wrote a last note to Julia - knowing
his execution was imminent. Valentinus asked the jailer for a paper, pen and
ink. He quickly jotted a farewell note and handed it to the jailer to give
to his blind daughter. He urged her to stay close to God, and he signed it:
From Your Valentine.
His sentence was carried out the next day, February 14, 270 A.D., near a
gate that was later named Porta Valentini in his memory.
When the jailer went home, he was greeted by his little girl. The little
girl opened the note and discovered a yellow crocus inside. The message
said: From your Valentine. As the little girl looked down upon the crocus
that spilled into her palm she saw brilliant colors for the first time in
her life! The girl's eyesight was restored! A miracle!
He was buried at what is now the Church of Praxedes in Rome. It is said
that Julia herself planted a pink-blossomed almond tree near his grave.
Today, the almond tree remains a symbol of abiding love and friendship. In
496 Pope Gelasius named February 14 as Saint Valentine's Day.
On each Valentine's Day, messages of affection, love and devotion are
still exchanged around the world.

MINUTE MAN AWARDS
WGM Joanne Clark is honoring the Masons at the Official Visits this
year. She is selecting a Mason from a list given to her form the Worthy
Matrons of each Chapter. They will be called the "Minuteman" to go along
with her patriotic theme. To qualify for the award, the Mason must be a 10
year member of Eastern Star, have served as Worthy Patron in the Chapter,
and been active in the Chapter. The pins are beautiful and were purchased
from Dave Hattrick of ID, now residing for a spell in AZ.
So let's give these outstanding Masons some credit for all their work
they do for our beautiful Order! I will need some help here so please let
me know who has been given this award in your Chapter during the Official
Visit.

Guiding Star
I need some help here on filling in the
missing names ... How about sending me the news??
AND ONE JOKE ...
A biker is riding a new motorcycle on the highway. While passing a car,
he knocks on the window. The driver of the car opens the window, "Yes?"
"Ever driven a Honda motorcycle?"
"No I haven't"
The biker drives on, until he sees the next car. While passing it, he
knocks on the window. The driver of the car opens the window: "Yes?"
"Ever driven a Honda motorcycle?"
"No I haven't"
Then suddenly there is a curve, the biker sees it too late. He crashes
off the road into a ditch. A car stops and a man runs to the unlucky biker.
Covered in blood, the biker asks, "Ever driven a Honda motorcycle?"
"Yes I have. I had a Honda for 20 years."
The biker says, "Tell me, where are the brakes?"
AND A WORD FROM YOURS TRULY
