POSITIVE SIDE OF LIFE
Living on Earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun
every year.
How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you're on.
Birthdays are good for you; the more you have, the longer you live.
Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.
Most of us go to our grave with our music still inside of us.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.
We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are
dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors
....but they all exist very nicely in the same box.
A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
Have an awesome day, and know that someone who thinks you're great has
thought about you today!..
And that person was me.
Have A Super Day! And let
Positive Vibes Fill Your Whole Day

Prayers needed ...
Hi Connie,
I sent you a message a couple of weeks ago asking you to put
my husband John on your e-mail list you send out. He is losing the use of
his hands, arms and legs due to narrowing of his spine. His is about 80%
narrower than it should be. We have been to Harborview twice so far for
appts. to see if they will do surgery on his neck to correct the problem
as it is pressing against the nerves. I have been a full time caregiver
for him now for over 6 months. He has steadily gotten worse the past few
months,. to the point where he can't even feed himself. We're supposed to
get a call this Thurs. or Friday to let us know if and when the surgery
will be. The doctor said that it will be a long surgery and they will
have to go into the back of the neck first, wait a week or so and then
operate on the front of the
neck. They will also fuse it front and back. He will be in Harborview for
at least a month. The surgery is very risky and there is a 10-20% chance
that he might die. He is also at risk for blood clots traveling to the
heart, lungs, etc. and possibly cause a stroke. We need prayer for him and
cards would also be very much appreciated.
We both belong to Waconda Chapter. I have served as Worth Matron
6 times as well as many other stations as I have been a member of OES for
36 years. We would deeply appreciate the prayers of our sisters and
brothers. I was supposed to go to Grand Chapter this past session to give
my report on Charters and New Chapters but due to John's health I had to
send my report to Sandy Henry to read for me.
Thank you very much and God bless you for
your every endeavor.

Masonic Float
Just returned from downtown Centralia where
we sat in our lawn chairs and cheered on the Masonic float. It made us so
proud to see two of our beautiful Rainbow girls, Worthy Advisor
Michelle Pace and Grand Musician Kristina Knutson
on the float. Mother Advisor Mary Knutson and two other
girls walked with the float. It was a wonderful Masonic family event.
Made the sunburn I got from working the Rainbow fireworks booth the day
before seem very worth while!

Ooops!
I was asked to check Calvin Cooledge's
birth year again! I had typed: President Calvin Coolidge, born in
Plymouth, Virginia in 2872, is the only President born
on the 4th of July. Think my fingers meant to say 1872.
That's what you get for allowing your fingers to do the walking! Or
should I say 'talking'!!!

Message here ....
A father wanted to
read a magazine but was being bothered by his little girl, Shelby. She
wanted to know what the United States looked
like.
Finally, he tore a
sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed the map of the country.
Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to Shelby, and said, "Go into the
other room and see if you can put
this
together. This will show you our whole country today."
After
a few minutes, Shelby returned and handed him the map, correctly fitted and
taped together. The father was surprised and
asked how
she'd finished so quickly.
"Oh,"
she said, "on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus. When I got
all of Jesus back where He belonged, then our country just came together."

Craft Tips
1. Freeze 100%
fruit juice in paper cups with a plastic spoon stuck in the juice for a
cool, healthy afternoon treat.
2. Wrap a piece of
tape around the children's crayons, it will strengthen them and help prevent
breakage.
3. Store candles
in the freezer. It prevents their bending in the heat and they will burn
without too much dripping.

Evergreen's OV and other stuff ...
Connie,
Several have asked how to get to the OV on
7/21/2007. I am attaching a map from Microsoft Streets and Trips on how to
get to my house. Linda Runyan will send you the invite.
From Highway 97, take the Broadway Exit. It
is the north exit by the Dairy Queen. When leaving the highway, you will be
on Broadway. Go a short way, you'll see a latte stand and Aimee's Attic on
the left. (If you arrive early enough, there is our Saturday market on the
right.) At Aimee's Attic, turn left onto Bickleton Highway. You will be
heading east. Go about 1 mile. You will see Sunset Drive on your right.
Turn onto Sunset Drive. Go approximately 1/4 mile. Our house is on the
left, the driveway is marked with blue numbers saying 126. There is good
parking near the house. When full, park along the yard side of driveway, or
down on the flat areas below the house. We have lots of trees, and will be
adding canopies for shade. There is good accessibility for those who need
assistance. If you are using the map attached, Conboy Lane is no longer a
road.
(Forget looking for
the map directions as I won't attach it ... but am sure if you go on
Microsoft Streets and Trips and punch in Becky's address, it might get you
there ... We have one of those fanciful NAV systems and can still get
lost! There are many addresses it says are not existing!)
Also, on another note:
To the gentleman who spoke to Nick Goddard in
the Men's Room at Grand Chapter, and received no response: 1. No, he
wasn't being rude. 2. Nick wasn't in the men's room at the time. 3. The
man you were speaking to was Garrett Cooke, Escort to the Grand Organist
from Oregon. 4. He hadn't met Nick yet, so he had no idea who you thought
you were talking to.
We had a great deal of fun with the
resemblance after we figured out what was going on. Everyone kept asking us
if Nick's brother was at Grand Chapter. We finally got Nick and Garrett
together and got a snap shot. His wife, Sharon, will be sending the picture
along to us. It's amazing how much they look alike.
PS: If you are that man in the men's room,
Both Nick and Garrett send their apologies.
Thanks,
** Becky Goddard

Izzy Dolls ...
I thought I would tell you of a presentation we just had. Members
across Canada have been making little 6" dolls to send overseas with our
troops to give to children who have nothing. These little handmade
(knitted, crocheted, sewn) dolls fit into a pocket. They are named "IZZY"
dolls after a young man who was killed while clearing mine fields in
Croatia. His mother used to send the dolls with him and now in his memory
has continued to do so. Through a project set up by our current DDGM,
others have become engaged in this project. We had a special presentation
at CFB in Trenton this past Saturday where we donated over 6,900 dolls.
This is our third such presentation but the previous two were not as
large.
---Lynda Mielke, PMx2, Florence Nightingale No. 5, Brockville,
Ontario, Canada
Here is the website for those that requested the Izzy doll
pattern-this one is for knitting/crocheting folks- I haven't made it yet
so don't know how easy it is. If you want to read up more on the dolls
back ground I think you can just type in the first part leaving off the
part about the doll.

What a great opportunity for
Chapters to do GOOD UNTO ALL! But as you view the website, you will see
some rules ... like giving credit where credit is due ... in memory of the
young man who was killed while clearing mine fields.
It is because of him that these dolls are
being made and sent overseas for our troops to give to children who have
nothing!

Brethren and
Members of other Masonic Bodies,
Today July 4th I was approached by a member of the Bothell Historic
Preservation Board and a member of the City's Public Relations Staff. I
gave both a tour of the Masonic Hall in Bothell and during the tour I was
asked what is necessary to bring a large contingent of Masons and other
Masonic Bodies to Bothell to assist in Celebrating the City's Centennial. I
informed them that it would be necessary to make the contacts and request
now as most bodies make their commitments 2 to 3 years in advance. With
this in mind I am asking that if it would be possible to request that as
many Masonic Family members who feel comfortable participating please mark
their calendar for July 4th 2009. (THIS IS
TENTATIVE AS NO FIRM PLANS CAN BE MADE PRIOR TO THE NOVEMBER ELECTION).
Also if anyone knows how to or can help build a float to transport our
Older or In-firmed members of the Masonic Body in the parade please let me
know as soon as possible as 2 years is a very short time to complete a
project of this caliber.
This request is for the Masonic Float if possible, and different Shrine
bodies and so forth. Also all members of the different youth groups that
meet in the area are invited to participate.
The background and reason for this request is that the first 2 settlers
who settled the Bothell area were both Masons and are Charter Members of
Ashler Lodge. They came to the Northwest in 1859 and settled along the
Squak Slew which is the water way just south of downtown and next to the
Park at Bothell Landing where most of the festivities may take place. Plus
all the Masters of Ashler up and thru 1952 had a position of some sort in
Bothell City Government. I too was a member of the Historic Commission
until 2006 and am still active though in the background with the City's
Historic Preservation Committee. Another reason for this request is that
the Present location of Ashler Masonic Center was the site of the FIRST City
Council meeting and where the idea of creating the city of Bothell
originated. It is also the only building that survived the fires of 1908
and 1911 which destroyed all the structures in downtown Bothell.
If you can help or know who I should contact it would be greatly
appreciated.
Fraternally

Patriotism at its best ...
From a Chaplain in Iraq.
"I recently attended a showing of "Superman 3" here at LSA Anaconda. We
have a large auditorium we use for movies as well as memorial services and
other large gatherings. As is the custom back in the States, we stood and
snapped to attention when the National Anthem began before the main feature.
All was going as planned until about three-quarters of the way through the
National Anthem the music stopped.
Now, what would happen if this occurred with 1,000 18-22 year-olds back
in the States? I imagine there would be hoots, catcalls, laughter, a few
rude comments, and everyone would sit down and call for a movie. Of course,
that is, if they had stood for the National Anthem in the first
place.
Here, the 1,000 Soldiers continued to stand at attention, eyes fixed
forward. The music started again. The Soldiers continued to quietly stand at
attention. And again, at the same point, the music stopped.
What would you expect to happen? Even here I would imagine laughter as
everyone sat down and expected the movie to start.
Here, you could have heard a pin drop. Every Soldier stood at
attention.
Suddenly there was a lone voice, then a dozen, and quickly the room was
filled with the voices of a thousand Soldiers
'And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through
the night that our flag was still there. O say does that star-spangled
banner yet wave, o'er the land of the free
and the home of the brave?'
It was the most inspiring moment I have had here in Iraq. I wanted you to
know what kind of Soldiers are serving you here.

Airport in Iraq, north of Baghdad"

MASONIC NEWS
A Mason and a Man
Brother, Masonry
means much more
Than the wearing of a pin,
Or carrying a paid-up dues receipt
So that the Lodge will let you in.
You can wear an emblem on your coat,
From your finger flash a ring,
But if you are not sincere at heart
This doesn't mean a thing.
It is merely an outward sign
To show the world that you belong
To that great fraternal brotherhood
That teaches right from wrong.
What really counts lies buried deep
Within the human breast,
'Til Masonic teaching brings it out
And puts it to the test.
If you practice out of Lodge
The things you learn within,
Be just and upright to yourself
And to your fellow men.
Console a brother when he's sick,
Assist him when in need,
Without a thought of personal reward
For any act or deed.
Walk and act in such a way
The world without will see,
That only the best can meet the test
Laid down by Masonry.
Be always faithful to your trust
And do the best you can,
Then you can proudly tell the world
You're a Mason and a man.
LOWRY'S HINTS
HINT 1 - Prevent
browning: Apples, pears and potatoes dropped in cold, lightly salted water
as they are peeled will retain their color.
* * * * * * * * * *
HINT 2 - Salt Will Smother
Flames... Salt tossed on a grease fire on the stove or in the oven will
smother flames. NEVER use water; it will only spatter the burning grease.
* * * * * * * * * *
HINT 3 -
Clean the glass in all areas for your home! The shiny surfaces in your home
reflect light and sparkle, both contribute to a fresh summer look. Don't
forget your TV screens, kitchen appliances, and even picture frame glass.
Try this one technique, and see if your rooms don't look brighter and
cheerier, for no more cost that an little effort a few pennies of glass
cleaner or vinegar!

HINT 4 - Free Innersoles: Save those foam supermarket trays. Cut
them to the size and shape of your shoes or boots and use them
as cushioned innersoles. They also insulate them from cold or damp ground.
Best of all they're FREE!

BONUS: Does your brown sugar
harden like a concrete block? To keep it soft, store it in a glass jar in
your refrigerator or in a plastic bag with a piece of bread or apple
inside.

Lobster Ravioli with Crabmeat Cream Sauce Recipe
courtesy Lilly's Gastronomia Italiana, Boston, MA
Lobster Ravioli:
2 ounces unsalted butter
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon chopped shallots
16 ounces cooked lobster meat
4 ounces cooked snow crabmeat
2 ounces Cognac
2 ounces ricotta
Salt
Pepper
1 tablespoon chopped chives
Pasta dough, recipe follows
Egg white, slightly beaten
Crabmeat Cream Sauce:
2 ounces unsalted butter
1 tablespoon chopped shallots
4 ounces whole chunk Maryland crabmeat
2 ounces Cognac
5 ounces tomato sauce
10 ounces heavy cream
Salt
For the Lobster Ravioli: In a large sauté pan, add the butter and
melt. Add the garlic and shallots and sauté until golden brown. Add lobster,
crab, and chives and sauté 2 to 3 minutes. Add Cognac and reduce for 2
minutes. Remove from heat and cool for 30 minutes, until room temperature.
Chop lobster mixture into small chunks. In a large bowl, combine lobster
mixture and ricotta and mix well. Season with salt and pepper.
Lay out the first piece of pasta dough on the table and place 1/4-ounce
mounds of stuffing 2 inches apart. Using a pastry brush, brush egg white
around each bit of stuffing, making the dough damp not wet. Take the second
piece and cover the bottom piece with the stuffing. Press around each
ravioli being careful not to squeeze the stuffing out. Using a round ravioli
cutter, cut each ravioli round and put on a sheet pan sprinkled with
semolina. Gently place ravioli in boiling
water and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until al dente.
For the sauce: Using a 12-inch sauté pan at medium heat, add
butter, shallots, and sauté until shallots are translucent. Add the crabmeat
and sauté for about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the sauté pan from the burner and
add Cognac then place pan back on the heat to cook off the alcohol. (Please
beware: the Cognac will create a large flame.) Once the flame stops, add the
tomato sauce and cream with salt and cook until it reduces half way and
becomes creamy. Add the cooked ravioli to the sauce and let cook together
for about 1 minute before serving. Garnish with chives.
Pasta Dough:
8 ounces durum flour
8 ounces semolina
1 egg
Water, as needed
Pinch salt
Add all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl until all ingredients
are blended. Place mixture on countertop and knead until the texture is
smooth and well mixed. Separate the pasta dough into 2 equal pieces and put
one piece aside. Flour the first piece, just enough to prevent sticking and
roll out with a rolling pin to about 1/8th-inch thick. Repeat procedure with
second piece making it as close to the shape as the first. Yield:
4 servings

*Ten Things A Cat Thinks About*
1. I could have sworn I heard the can opener.
2. Is there something I'm not getting when humans make noise with their
mouths?
3. Why doesn't the government do something about dogs?
4. I wonder if Morris really liked 9-Lives, or did he have alterior motives?
5. Hmmm... If dogs serve humans, and humans serve cats, why can't we cats
ever get these stupid dogs to do anything for us?
6. This looks like a good spot for a nap.
7. Hey -- no kidding, I'm sure that's the can opener.
8. Would humans have built a vast and complex civilization of their own if
we cats hadn't given them a reason to invent sofas and can openers in the
first place?
9. God ... why do YOU allow neutering?
10. If that really was the can opener, I'll play finicky just to let them
know who's boss!

A judge was interviewing a lady regarding her pending divorce, and he
asked her, "What are the grounds for your divorce?"
She replied, "About four acres and a nice little home in the middle of
the property with a stream running by."
"No," he said, "I mean what is the foundation of this case?"
"Why, it is made of concrete, of course," she responded.
"I mean," he continued, "what are your relations like?"
"I have an aunt and uncle living here in town, as well as my husband's
parents."
He said, "Do you have a real grudge?"
"No," she replied, "we have a two-car carport and have never really
needed one."
"Please," he tried again, "is there any infidelity in your marriage?"
"Yes, both my son and daughter have stereo sets. We don't necessarily
like the music, but the answer to your question is 'yes'."
"Ma'am, does your husband ever beat you up?"
"Yes," she responded, "about twice a week he gets up earlier than I
do."
Finally, frustrated and at the end of his rope, the judge asked, "Lady,
why do you want a divorce?"
"Oh, I don't want a divorce," she replied. "I've never wanted a divorce.
It's my husband that does. He says he can't communicate with me."

Getting Water Stains
Out of Wood Tables: First, combine non-gel toothpaste with a bit
of baking soda. Rub this mixture into the white stains until warm. It may
take some time for the marks to disappear. When you see that the stains
have disappeared, wipe with a damp cloth then wax the wood, if okay for
the surface.
-
Preventing a Lint
Build Up: Remove clothing when it's a bit damp because then static
electricity can't accumulate in overdried clothes. Lint won't cling as
much. Also clean the dryer lint-screen after each load to speed drying
and prevent a fire.
-
To Condition Dry
Hair Ends: Just rub a tablespoon or two of regular mayonnaise
(diet mayo does not do the job) into hair ends. Wrap your head in plastic
wrap and then a towel. Allow it to condition for about 30 minutes, then
wash in cool water.

Chrome Faucets
Spotty? For a quick clean, place tissues over them and then pour a
small amount of household vinegar on top. Allow the tissues to remain on
for a couple of minutes. Sponge off with soap and water. Rinse and then
polish with a soft clean cloth.
AND A WORD FROM YOURS TRULY ...
