LIFE IS LIKE A QUILT
(in honor of First Lady of
Masonry in Washington... Diane McQuery)
Life is like a patchwork quilt
And each little patch is a day
Some patches are rosy, happy and bright
And some are dark and gray.
But each little patch
As it's fitted in and sewn to keep it together
Makes a finished block in this life of ours,
Filled with sun and rainy weather.
So let me work on Life's patchwork quilt
Through the rainy days and the sun
Trusting that when I have finished my block
The Lord may say ... 'Well done.'
** Joyce Lund
As many of you know, 'Wrap Them In
Love' was Diane's philanthropy this year as First Lady. She worked
diligently with the daughter of Sister Helen McCormick, Key City
Chapter, in providing hand-made quilts to orphanages (here and
abroad), Fire Districts, Police Departments, etc, ... anyone with a
need! of something warm and cuddlely. At Grand Lodge next week in
Kennewick, in lieu of a 'Ladies Tour', the Ladies will be meeting and
quilting! I have my trusty little scissors packed (to clip the ends
of yarn as the quilts are tied ...) and my itsy bitsy hole punch (for
making of gift cards). Sounds like fun? You betcha! PLUS! We will
be able to solve ALL the world's problems as we sit and stitch! How
about joining us?
FIRST CLASS MAIL IN MY MAILBOX ...
I know that most of you figured out that we would be
going to Rada Uphus Chapter this evening. We did, and proudly announced
Sister Charlotte Wilson will be Grand Ruth for the
2007-08 Grand Chapter year. We know that current Grand Ruth, Sister Doris
Edwards, would have loved to be there, but she is doing as she should be
doing, taking care and resting up so that she can enjoy our Grand Chapter
Session in Yakima. There were five Past Grand Matrons and four Past Grand
Patrons as well as four Past Grand Ruths in attendance. Sister
Charlotte's father was WGP of Idaho and her mother, Sister Ruth
Miller was Grand Chaplain of Idaho and we know that they were looking down
with pride.

Hand Sanitizer Warning - Could Be Fatel
This is good info to know if you haven't
heard about it already.
This one is true, so please forward it to
everyone you know that has small children. I've attached the link to Snopes.
Ok. I don't know where to begin because the
last 2 days of my life have been such a blur. Yesterday, My youngest
daughter Halle who is 4, was rushed to the emergency room by her father for
being severely lethargic and incoherent. He was called to her school by the
school secretary for being "very VERY sick." He told me that when he
arrived that Halle was barely sitting in the chair. She couldn't hold her
own head up and when he looked into her eyes, she couldn't focus them.
He immediately called me after he scooped her up and rushed her to the
ER. When we got there, they ran blood test after blood test and did x-rays,
every test imaginable. Her white blood cell count was normal, nothing was
out of the ordinary. The ER doctor told us that he had done everything that
he could do so he was sending her to Saint Francis for further test.
Right when we were leaving in the ambulance, her teacher had come to the
ER and after questioning Halle's classmates, we found out that she had
licked hand sanitizer off her hand. Hand sanitizer, of all things. But it
makes sense. These days they have all kinds of different scents and when
you have a curious child, they are going to put all kinds of things in their
mouths.
When we arrived at Saint Francis, we told the ER doctor there to check
her blood alcohol level, which, yes we did get weird looks from it but they
did it. The results were her blood alcohol level was 85% and this was 6
hours after we first took her. There's no telling what it would have been
if we would have tested it at the first ER.
Since then, her school and a few surrounding schools have taken this out
of the classrooms of all the lower grade classes but what's to stop middle
and high schoolers too? After doing research off the Internet, we have
found out that it only takes 3 squirts of the stuff to be fatal in a
toddler. For her blood alcohol level to be so high was to compare someone
her size to drinking something 120 proof.
So please PLEASE don't disregard this because I don't ever want anyone
to go thru what my family and I have gone thru. Today was a little better
but not much.
Please send this to everyone you know that has children or are having
children. It doesn't matter what age. I just want people to know the
dangers of this.
Thank you.

More thinking of you ...
Larry Burleigh, Worthy
Patron of Vida Chapter, had knee replacement surgery last Tuesday, March
29. He is home and doing pretty good. The pain medication keeps him a
little confused, but his spirits are high and he plans on being at Grand
Chapter to assist the Audio Committee. He will have his first physical
therapy appointment today, Tuesday, June 5.

Another error
found ....
Hi
Connie: found an error: Jobs' Daughters Grand Session is in
Wenatchee June 21-24. Thank you.
**
BBoop (Betty Bynon)
On the calendar on
the latest newsletter it says that the Job's Daughter session is in
Ellensburg. It is actually in Wenatchee at the Coast Hotel and convention
center. Would you correct on your future mailings. I would hate to have a
dignitary end up in the wrong place!
Thank you,

A 2006 study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a
year.
Another study found that Americans drink an average of 22 gallons of
beer a year.
That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles per gallon.
NOT BAD ...

AN OPEN INVITATION
At the Masonic Park in Granite Falls Wash.
Come and see what the volunteers have accomplished at the Masonic Park
in the last few months. We are open and ready for a great camping season.
Call and make reservations if you have a particular site in mind, or just
come on up and take a look. There is still a lot of work to be done, but
the park is looking better
every day. We are in the process of moving and rebuilding a few of the
camp shelters to higher ground out of the flood area. The new shelters are
being built 12" by 12" with concrete floors in them and metal roofs on
them.
Remember this is your park and we are here for you. Gate hours are
8:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. daily.
Hope to see you soon. If you can not make it out to the park check out

All Masons are welcome
JOKES
"Mister, why doesn't this cow have any horns?" asked the young lady from
a nearby city on field trip to the country.
The farmer cocked his head for a moment, then began in a patient tone,
"Well, ma'am, cattle can do a powerful lot of damage with horns. Sometimes
we keep'em trimmed down with a hacksaw. Other times we can fix up the young
'uns by puttin' a couple drops of acid where their horns would grow in, and
that stops 'em cold. Still, there are some breeds of cattle that never grow
horns. But the reason this cow don't have no horns, ma'am, is 'cause it's a
horse."

HINT 1 - On
your way into a meeting and noticed your scuffed shoes, try pulling out a
tiny bottle of hand lotion and quickly rub on your shoes. Not only does it
work especially well on the tips of pointy shoes, but you can make your
shoes last longer by keeping the leather soft and supple.

HINT 2 - Does your broomstick slip
every time you try to lean it against the wall or in the closet? Here is a
good idea to make sure it stays upright. Also it
is barely noticeable, except to you, because you have to pick the broom up
all the time! Try cutting off a fingertip from an old rubber glove and
slide it over the top of a broomstick. Then the broom won't slip when leaned
against a wall.

HINT 3 - Don't throw away the plastic
backing in the package of sliced bacon. Wash it well, and place it between
servings of raw meat before freezing. This saves on plastic wrap and is
reusable. BONUS TIP: No Waste One thing I found to be helpful with plastic
wrap(Seran wrap, Glad Wrap etc.) is to put it in the freezer. It will roll
off just perfect every time. Then slide it along the cutter and there you
have it...no sticking together, no tangles, no waste and no frustrations.
When you're done just remember to put it back in the freezer for next time.
Works Great!!!!

Pancake-Wrapped Buffalo Sausage with Homemade Syrup Recipe
courtesy: Tally's Restaurant
2 drops yellow (egg shade) food coloring
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
2 2/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
8 buffalo sausage, see Cook's Note*
Tally's Homemade Syrup, recipe follows
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the food coloring, eggs, salt and
sugar until well mixed, about 1 minute. Add the milk and oil and mix well
for another minute. In a medium mixing bowl, mix together the flour and
baking powder. Slowly add it to the wet ingredients, a little at a time,
stirring gently after each addition. Once all the dry ingredients have been
added, stir a few more times to combine, but do not overmix. It's okay to
have a few small lumps.
Refrigerate the batter for at least 2 hours, but it's best to let it sit
overnight.
Preheat griddle to medium-high.
Spoon about 3 tablespoons of batter per pancake onto the grill. Cook on
one side until bubbles appear and the edges are dry, about 2 minutes. Flip
the pancakes and cook on the other side until the bottom is golden brown,
about 1 1/2 minutes. Remove the pancakes to a plate and place in the oven or
warmer to keep them warm. Repeat to make 8 pancakes
Place the buffalo sausages on the griddle and cook until no longer pink
in the middle, turning as they cook so that they brown evenly, about 3
minutes. If it's cooked too long, buffalo sausage gets very dry.
Place a buffalo sausages on top of each pancakes. Roll the pancake
around the sausage. Top with Tally's Homemade Syrup.
*Buffalo sausage can be found in specialty food stores in the frozen
section, or ordered through special mail-order businesses online.

How to Get Streak Free
Windows: After you wash them, dry one side from right to left, and

Is the Air in Your
Home Too Dry? Bring plants into your house environment because they
can help to bring moisture in the air. Choose ferns, begonias, coleus and
zebra plants because they like moisture and grow quickly. Also, set the pots
on a shallow tray filled with pebbles and water...this will keep moisture in
the air.
