Boutonniere From Spring

Winter wore her coat of gray
Until a bleak December day
When quiet snow, soft as down,
Covered everything throughout the lawn.

In January, to winter's sorrow
The snow cover melted into tomorrow.
Again her coat was a dreary gray
With March still 2 months away.

In February, spring on her trial run,
Placed a crocus, just for fun,
On winter's coat, with a jolly air,
So now she wears a boutonniere.

MINUTE MAN AWARDS

WGM Joanne Clark is honoring the Masons at the Official Visits this year.  She is selecting a Mason from a list given to her form the Worthy Matrons of each Chapter.  They will be called the "Minuteman" to go along with her patriotic theme. To qualify for the award, the Mason must be a 10 year member of Eastern Star, have served as Worthy Patron in the Chapter, and been active in the Chapter.  The pins are beautiful and were purchased from Dave Hattrick of ID, now residing for a spell in AZ.
So let's give these outstanding Masons some credit for all their work they do for our beautiful Order!  I will need some help here so please let me know who has been given this award in your Chapter during the Official Visit.
(For July, August, September, October, November & December ... please check in the archives on Connie's Corner on the GC of WA's website ... www.washingtonoes.org.  - the last list published in its entirety was in issue #6-052.)

AND ONE JOKE ...

Sven was out shopping in the mall when he met his friend Ole outside the jewelers. Ole noticed that Sven had a small gift-wrapped box in his hand.
"So vat have you just purchased Sven?" Ole asks.
"Vell, now that you've asked," replies Sven, I vus shopping for Lena a Valentines present.  I asked her this morning vat she vanted for Valentines.  She said, 'Oh, I don't know, dear, yust give me something with a lot  of diamonds in it.'"
"So vat did you get her?" Ole asks.
Sven replied, smiling, "I bought her a deck of cards."

AND A WORD FROM YOURS TRULY

Just a quick note before getting some laundry done so to hit the road again!  WOW!  Our suitcase never seems to leave the sofa ... just pack, unpack, pack, etc.  You have the idea!  Sometimes I find Sissy (our cat) laying in the middle of it!  Reckon she wants to go, too?  I have heard that cats don't travel very well ... so guess we shall leave her at home.  Someone needs to take care of the place!
What an exciting time last Friday evening when we did Grand Initiation.  I was initiated by the Grand Family once upon a time.  Never realized that it was so important until later!  And I am sure the lady that was initiated, won't realize it either until later!  Last evening, we had a courtesy initiation in my chapter ... and wow!  It is hard keeping all our parts straight.  I am thinking that my favorite station is Chaplain ... and I love Martha!  And I was Esther once upon a time.  I guess we enjoy everything that we take time to learn.  Right?
Anyway ... last evening on the way home, we had some excitement in front of our house.  All of a sudden there was a deer IN FRONT OF THE HEADLIGHTS (reminds me of Sister Bonnie Rail's rendition that she did at the Pine Tree/Zillah OV ... another story!)  Anyway, it started to run, but the hiway was icy that it was doing the spraddle in the next lane (something like the penguin walk but with LONG legs!)  Our car has an anti-skid computer device ... as if the vehicle ever starts to slide, the car takes over and straightens up.  Driver cannot over-ride it.  (It's called a VSU ... Vehicle Stabilization Unit ) ... and with that and the Anti-Lock Brakes ... we kept on the straight and narrow!  WHEW!  As we passed the deer, it was still trying to get all four up under it.  I wish these deer would THINK ... as they KNOW there is nothing to eat at our house!!!  We are never home long enough to COOK!
And now ... see some of you at Spokane/Martha Chapters' OV tonight and tomorrow night at Victory/Adelphi Chapters!  Take care as it does get foggy.
Until next time ... Hearty Patriot Hugs and happy thoughts.
