This magical feeling that
I've found a friend so true.
Have A Magical Day

Interesting
reading whether your Lodge presents a Bible or not. ** Lowry May
BIBLE
PRESENTATION
My Brother, may I
join the WM and all the Brethren in Freemasonry in congratulating you upon
being raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason? This is, or ought to be,
an auspicious occasion in the life of every man so honored.
The ceremonies of
your degrees have been extensive, and I now have the pleasure of concluding
these ceremonies with one of the most pleasant tasks in all Freemasonry.
Let us begin by
reminiscing for a moment, you doubtless remember when you stood outside that
door in the preparation room prior to your first admission into a lodge of
Masons and in a state of nervous anticipation you answered the questions
posed to you by Bro. Sec., who among other things, informed you that Masonry
was a system of moral instruction.
You are now a
Master Mason which signifies that you have received the mandatory
instructions and you have performed the required examinations in a
proficient manner. Your future conduct is a matter of your own honor and
reputation. A matter over which we as your brethren in Masonry, do not have
any control. Nor would we care to exercise control over another's actions if
we could, for each of us has his hands full trying to control his own
actions. But, should you choose to accept our gracious invitation to “Come,
travel with us”, should you choose to mold your life and actions according
to the teachings of Freemasonry, you will need a Guiding Light.
My Brother, here
is a book whose scene is the sky and the dirt and all that lies between -- a
Book that has in it the arch of the heavens, the curve of the earth, the ebb
and flow of the sea, sunrise and sunset, the peaks of mountains, the glint
of sunlight on flowing waters, the shadow of forests on the hills, the songs
of birds and the color of flowers. But its two great characters are God and
the Soul, and the story of their eternal life together is its one
everlasting romance. It is the most human of books, telling the old
forgotten secrets of the heart, its bitter pessimism, its death defying
hope, its pain, its passion, its sin, its sob of grief and its shout of joy
telling all, without malice, in its grand style which can do no wrong, while
echoing the sweet-toned paths of the pity and mercy of God. No other book is
so honest with us, so mercilessly merciful, so austere yet so tender,
piercing the heart, yet healing the deep wounds of sin and sorrow.
Take this great
and simple book, white with age yet new with the dew of each new morning,
tested by the sorrowful and victorious experience of centuries rich in
memories and wet with the tears of multitudes who walded this way before as
-- Lay it to heart, love it, read it, and learn what life is, what it means
to be a man: Aye, Learn that God hath made us for himself, and unquiet are
our hearts till they rest in him.
Take it your
friend and teacher and you will know what Sir Walter Scott meant when, as he
laying dying, he asked Lockhart to read to him. “From what book?” asked
Lockhart, and Scott replied “There is but one book!”
My brother, this
is that Book, the Great Light in Masonry, the Holy Bible.
This lodge deems
it fitting that each new Master Mason should be presented with his memento
of the occasion of his being Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason.
It is hoped that as the years roll by, you will find it an ever increasing
source of faith and hope. May it serve as a happy reminder of this occasion
and a token of the brotherly love in which it is given. May its light guide
you as strength support you, its salvation save you and then at your NEXT
raising you will doubtless receive the WORD for which we have all so long
sought.

SGT John Kriesel Made Mason At Sight ...
Sgt John Kriesel of Cottage Grove, MN (suburb of St. Paul) was
badly wounded on December 2, 2006 while serving in Iraq. Enlisting in the
Minnesota National Guard when he was 17, Sgt. Kriesel had served in Kosovo
in 2004 and then returned home. He was again called up and after
additional training was sent to Iraq in 2005.
On December 2, 2006, Sgt. Kriesel was riding in a Humvee with
4 other soldiers. They were on patrol near Fallujah when an IED exploded
under them. Two of John’s buddies were killed and two injured. John
suffered the loss of both legs. He was first treated in Iraq, transferred
to Germany, and then to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.
John’s spirit remains extraordinarily high and he is a
pleasure to be around.
Staying with John is his wife Katie while their two young boys
are back in Minnesota being cared for by Katie’s parents.
In response to a request from Brother Steven R. Johnson, Grand
Mater, Grand Lodge of Minnesota, the Grand Lodge of the District of
Columbia with Brother Robert Heyat, Grand Master, presiding, made John
Kriesel a Mason-at-Sight on April 4, 2007. The Ceremony was performed at
the Walter Reed Army Medical Center with several other Grand Lodges
officers and Masons in attendance.
John Kriesel commented ‘I truly miss the brotherhood of being
with my fellow soldiers but have now found that same fraternal feeling
among my brother Masons.’

LOWRY'S HINTS
-
HINT 1 - Summertime is Spidertime: Use
furniture polish to repel spiders. When the spider trainer for the movie
"Arachniphobia" wanted to direct his spiders, he used lemon pledge sprayed
on areas he wanted the spiders to avoid. Regular applications to window
sills and door steps will accomplish the same thing. When chesnuts fall,
pick up a few and place them on basement window sills. They also keep
spiders away.
-
HINT 2 - Outdoor Critters Don't Like Black
Pepper: Keep dogs, raccoons, cats, rabbits, and other animals
away from your garden. Sprinkle black pepper around your hedges and flower
beds. You can also use mothballs. Black pepper also repels ants.

At one Army base, the annual trip to the rifle range had been canceled
for the second year in a row, but the semi-annual physical fitness test was
still on as planned.
One soldier mused, "Does it bother anyone else that the Army doesn't
seem to care how well we can shoot, but they are extremely interested in how
fast we can run?"

"Dad why are wedding dresses white?"
The father looks at his son in surprise and says, "Son, all household

Christmas Break was over and the teacher was asking the class about
their vacations. She turned to little Johnny and asked what he did over the
break.
"We visited my grandmother in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania," he replied.
"That sounds like an excellent vocabulary word," the teacher said. "Can
you tell the class how you spell that?"
Little Johnny thought about it and said, "You know, come to think of it,
we went to Ohio."

absorb the odors.
AND A WORD FROM YOURS TRULY
Today is my birthday! Ted took me to dinner at the 'Golden China' in
Newport (and I know all you who have visited Newport have dined there!) It
was a good day! My brother called me from inside his combine (he is
harvesting grain) to wish me a happy day! The children either called or
text-messaged me.
>From the date, I know that I was born during harvest. My dad had
gotten my mother a hired girl to help out with the cooking, cleaning,
washing, etc. And as luck had it, my mom went into labor on Saturday
afternoon. The plan was ... when this happened, the hired girl would stay
out at the ranch and continue with the cooking, etc. for the hired men.
Well! Towards dinner time, she told Mom that she was scared to stay way out
there in the country, so after the dinner dishes and everyone got washed up,
my dad loaded everyone into and onto the truck (Mom, two brothers, hired
girl, and numerous hired men) and Dad drove all into Pomeroy where
he dropped everyone off at their respective places ... the hired girl to her
home, the hired men probably to the local 'establishment', my brothers to my
grandparents, and FINALLY, Daddy got Mom to the local hospital where I was
born! No wonder I am always tired ... I was born tired! I know that
my mother must have been exhausted with all the stuff she had to do to get
ready to have me!!! But there was never a birthday when I was growing up
... which as I said ... was always during harvest ... that I ever went
without an angel food cake for my birthday! And Mom made them from scratch
... you know ... a dozen egg whites (good thing we raised chickens,
huh!) She even made me CHOCOLATE ANGEL FOOD CAKES! Yummy! It was good
life!
Until next time ... Hearty Patriot Hugs, happy thoughts and may God
Bless You All! And pray for NO fires!

is full or if you have changed email addresses. I have nearly 1,000

newsletter ... many bounced messages, mailboxes too full, etc.
I do appreciate hearing from you ... with news of your chapter, etc.
